What's Happening?

A recent change to Michigan law that will go into effect September 30, 2015 will allow periodic garnishments to remain in effect until the judgment is satisfied.  Currently periodic garnishments are effective only for a maximum of 182 days.  The form, MC12, Request & Writ for Garnishment (Periodic), will be revised accordingly and the new form will likely be required for use after September 30.  The new form will not be approved for use until that time so you should order the present 4-14 revision to fully cover your needs up through that date.

The new revision is tentatively to be released to us for printing in early September but the actual date is not yet known.  The State Court says it will not be posted to the State Court website until September 30.  We hope to have stock available for sale a few weeks prior to that date but we will begin taking backorders for the new revision September 1st if you wish to have a standing order for it once it becomes available.  As yet we do not know the revision date it will carry.

For more details on the changes, the law that was changed was MCL 600.4012 as amended by 2015 PA 14.
